Lost – Everybody loves Hugo

Ok, I know, this episode aired like 3 weeks ago. I’ just a bit behind – but I’m still gonna analyze what happened. The episode started out with Hugo winning the Man of the Year Award and the flash sideways showed him getting to know Libby a bit more. On the island Hugo sees Michael and is told that “people are listening to you now.” Interesting, I wonder why – because he’s a candidate? Because he can talk to the dead? Because he’s totally awesome? I’m thinking people are starting to realize that his power is very useful, he’s been right about a lot of things recently. He helped Richard in his time of weakness, and he brought Jack to the lighthouse where he suddenly started believing.
Michael makes an appearance and tells Hugo to stop Richard from blowing up the plane. As a result, Hugo takes it upon himself to blow up the Black Rock – boy was Richard pissed!
Hugo and Libby finally get their picnic date, Libby is convinced that she knows Hugo from another life and explains about the crash and their fondness for each other. After kissing Libby, Hugo starts to remember his island experience too.
Smoke Monster John meets up with the now captive Desmond and takes him to an old well where Smoke Monster John pushes Desmond into the well. To which my wife exclaimed “I knew he was gonna throw him in there!” I guess we all had a feeling that would happen. Desmond was so calm while talking to Smoke Monster John. As he’s talking to Smoke Monster John, he’s starting to realize that “the island has it in for all of us.” Later he tells Smoke Monster John, “What’s the point in being scared?” This is a different Desmond all right; I hope we get more clues as to what he’s up to.
Car crash
Here are a few things that I picked up on:
– I really noticed how cold and to the point Sayid after being claimed. Yeah, he was all business before, but now he’s even more so. His face is expressionless!
– Didn’t Jack know they were going to see the Smoke Monster in the form of John Locke? Why was he so surprised and awed when he finally saw him?
– Dr Chang was the speaker at Hugo’s Man of the Year Award ceremony. We didn’t get to see his face, but we did hear his voice. He sounded pretty good considering that he’s 40 years older than the last time we saw him!
